Multi-regional law firm with broad commercial and private-client practices
Employee Benefits Attorney
The employee benefits practice is deepening its advisory bench in New York as regulatory complexity around deferred compensation, qualified plans, and ERISA fiduciary issues accelerates across health care, manufacturing, and financial-services clients. This associate will counsel on plan design and compliance, negotiate service-provider agreements, and handle IRS and DOL controversies through administrative appeals. The work runs from routine Form 5500 corrections to high-stakes correction programs and plan terminations in M&A and bankruptcy contexts.
What this firm is looking for
- 4–10 years of employee benefits and ERISA experience at a firm or in-house legal department
- Deep familiarity with qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation arrangements
- Experience handling IRS and DOL audits, voluntary correction programs, or plan-related litigation
- Admitted to practice in New York or eligible for admission via reciprocity
- Comfort working in a hybrid arrangement from the New York office
