Midwestern law firm with broad commercial and institutional client base
Employee Benefits/ERISA Associate
You would step into an active docket advising plan sponsors, fiduciaries, and administrators on qualified retirement plans, health and welfare arrangements, and ESOP transactions. The work spans DOL and IRS correction programs, plan mergers in M&A deals, and executive compensation design for healthcare, manufacturing, and nonprofit clients. Roughly half your time is spent in counseling and compliance; the other half on document drafting and the occasional fiduciary dispute or benefits-related litigation.
What this firm is looking for
- 2–10 years of Employee Benefits/ERISA experience in a law firm or sophisticated in-house environment
- Substantive exposure to qualified plans, nonqualified deferred compensation, or welfare benefit arrangements
- Familiarity with IRS/DOL correction programs and Form 5500 reporting
- Experience advising on benefits aspects of corporate transactions preferred
