Mid-sized New York firm with a diversified real estate and construction practice
Construction & Design Group Associate
The Manhattan construction bar has seen a wave of complex mixed-use developments and adaptive reuse projects, and this group needs a lateral associate to handle the influx. You will draft and negotiate design-build agreements, construction management contracts, and subcontractor agreements for developers and institutional owners across commercial, residential, and hospitality assets. The work spans active litigation support on payment and delay disputes, as well as front-end counseling to keep projects out of court.
What this firm is looking for
- 6–10 years of construction and design experience, ideally split between transactional drafting and dispute work
- Solid grounding in New York lien law, prompt-pay statutes, and the mechanics of bonded projects
- Experience advising developers, general contractors, or design professionals on risk allocation in complex builds
- Comfort interfacing directly with project lenders and sureties on defaults and workouts
- Admission to practice in New York; hybrid schedule with three days in-office
